Herefordshire Barn conversion featured on Great British Home Restoration with Charlie Luxton
Charlie Luxton presents the big reveal of the Herefordshire Barn Conversion in the Great British Home Restoration
Last year we were approached by Great British Home Restoration who were looking for a project that had started on site and was likely to be completed within 6 months. At the time we had just engaged a new builder following a period of inaction on site, and the production crew were eager to follow our Herefordshire barn conversion for the second half of the build through to completion.
The programme Great British Home Restoration follows couples and families converting historic buildings into dream homes. Over the next 6 months the programme followed our Self-Build journey through approval from the Duchy of Cornwall, the install of the oak mezzanine, install of the windows and large glazed screens, and the final reveal for the TV show which aired on More 4 in July 2024.
Whilst the time pressure of the filming deadline added another dimension to the stress of managing a Self-Build project, the finished programme provides a nice record of the process.
Presenter Charlie Luxton’s final summary of the project was complimentary of the architectural approach and ambition of the project:
“I love the fact that you haven't compromised, you've really listened to this building, and you've really worked in sympathy with it. But you've very much put a stamp, and that's hard to get right. I really feel like you've absolutely nailed it here. I think its' a beautifully built and beautifully conceived piece of architecture.”
